The More Private Travel team set out on an adventure to Lion Sands for the glorious unveiling of River Lodge – we got more ‘adventure’ than we bargained for!

Side note: Upon arrival, we were left breathless by the grandeur of the newly-renovated River Lodge. Like a true phoenix, she rose from the ashes with more grace and glory than ever before.

During the first morning’s game drive, our grande dame Charmaine Banks showed a leopard just why she is the leading lady of More Private Travel. We were parked just off the side of the main track to observe a young male leopard. Instead, we found ourselves under observation, as the curious beast approached our safari vehicle and locked eyes with Charmaine!

With this magnificent creature staring her down, less than an arm’s length away, she did not bat an eye. Brave and with nerves of steel, she kept her composure exceptionally well. Perhaps the leopard was just as curious about us as we were about him? Regardless, how many of us can say that we have looked into the eyes of such a wild animal and still been around to tell the tale?
