The new River Lodge is here and she has turned out to be beyond our wildest expectations!

Limited walls allow a flow between interior and exterior, and structures have been set along a path to reveal splendid views of the Sabie River. The lodge features enhanced guest areas, a new spa, and three additional private River Suites, including a two-bedroom Family Suite. The whole lodge design evolved to create an intimate space for families, couples, and wildlife lovers, which reconnects them with nature and each other, where they rediscover the wonderfulness of life.

MORE has its origins in our Lion Sands Game Reserve and River Lodge. The first guests were welcomed here over 40 years ago to share with our More family in this place of beauty and discovery – where couples fall in love, families come together, children hear the trumpeting of an elephant for the first time… The reopening of River Lodge, after a fire in June 2017, once again completes our very special Lion Sands’ offering.

Lion Sands Game Reserve is unique being rooted in both the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Kruger National Park, with its regions separated only by the Sabie River. Its four waterside luxury camps – Ivory Lodge and River Lodge on the Sabi side, and Narina Lodge and Tinga Lodge over on Kruger – provide exceptional safari experiences to suite a variety of budgets.

Ivory Lodge is the ultimate VIP safari. Nine Villas provide every comfort and convenience – from private pools and maxibars stocked with champagne to, in the case of Fish Eagle Villa, a spa, personal chef, field guide, and safari vehicle. And EVERYTHING is included for a tailor-made family/friend adventure. Look forward to game drives, guided bush walks, wildlife lectures, safari sundowners, astronomy, dining in the bush and under the stars – and going home with a suitcase of clean clothes, thanks to a complimentary laundry service.

River Lodge makes for an intimate safari experience. Individual accommodations occupy their own spot along the riverbank, and there are a variety of options – eight Luxury Rooms, six Superior Luxury Rooms, and four River Suites – to meet guests’ needs. The River Suites are the most private and spacious – being further away from the main lodge and each with a plunge pool – and include a Family Suite. Two children get their own bedroom – just like home, only better! – with new and exciting toys to play with.

Tinga Lodge and Narina Lodge offer a traditional safari experience in sophisticated waterside havens. Tinga captures the romance of the pioneer days, while providing considerable more comfort, and Narina reflects its leafy surrounds in organic chic décor, creating an air of relaxation. But both, comprising just nine Suites each, are built for privacy in a wilderness where you can watch the animals come down to the water from your pool and deck, as well as bed and bath. Tinga also incorporates the six-sleeper Hi’Nkweni Villa, with its own field guide and safari vehicle, for a more exclusive bush experience.

No matter which side you choose to stay on though, you are guaranteed amazing game-viewing opportunities. Lion Sands conserves 3 300ha/8 150ac of a habit that is home to the highest and most diverse concentration of wildlife in the southern hemisphere. And with exclusive traversing rights to the area and a vehicle limit of 16 on the reserve at any one time, it will just be you and the animals.
