“Probably the furthest we’ve ever been from another human being.”
– Cassandra Zuffante and Nico Gaviola

From our remote Treehouses in the middle of the wilderness, you’ll feel as if you have Africa all to your self. In the midst of her wild calls, epic landscapes and million-star skies, you’ll never feel as alive!

Nothing stands between you and Mother Nature - you’re free to feel the warmth of the sun's glow, and the clear breeze on your skin. The excitement that this experience inevitably stirs is real.

That said, you won't compromise on the creature comforts. Each of our Treehouses is luxuriously chic, without taking away from the pure rawness of your night out in Africa.

Pack an overnight bag, head out on your safari vehicle and let it lead you far far away (figuratively… you're in easy reach of the Lodge should you need anything.) Both our safari properties, Lion Sands Game Reserve and Marataba Luxury Lodges, include these unique retreats, which are booked as an experience over and above your lodge accommodation.

Chalkley Treehouse, Lion Sands Game Reserve

For guests of Ivory Lodge and River Lodge

Our original hideout. All of our Treehouses have their origins in Chalkley Treehouse, built on the site where our ancestor, Guy Aubrey Chalkley, made camp in a centuries-old leadwood tree. Here the soft glow of lanterns and the absence of Wi-Fi creates an au-naturel bush experience for two. But you’ll have all the comfort of a soft canopied bed shrouded by netting, and a hot shower.

Kingstone Treehouse, Lion Sands Game Reserve

For guests of Ivory Lodge and River Lodge

Built just beyond an outcrop of boulders, Kingston is a couple or family’s private vantage over Africa. Its stillness is punctuated only by animals’ whistles, huffs and growls… Savour 'this faraway tree' in complete luxury.

Tinyeleti Treehouse, Lion Sands Game Reserve

For guests of Tinga Lodge and Narina Lodge

Tinyeleti, meaning ‘many stars’, offers big views of a wide-open plain that stretches out to meet an endless sky.

Thabametsi Treehouse, Marataba Luxury Lodges

For guests of Marataba Safari Lodge and Marataba Mountain Lodge

Thabametsi, meaning ‘mountain water’, looks onto the Waterberg and across the verdant expanse of the Marakele. The newest of our Treehouses, it is solar powered and built over two levels, which include a bedroom, shower room and lounge decks, presenting the view in all its magnificence. It’s a romantic’s, family’s or solitude seeker’s dream!

All of our Treehouse experiences begin with the afternoon game drive, which winds up at your remote hideout for the night. A gourmet picnic dinner awaits to be savoured as you take in the scenery. Your Field Guide will remain on call via radio, should you need assistance. But rest assured, you are quite safe and in for the best night out of your life!
