The MORE Treehouse Experiences are a standalone and unique way of experiencing the African bush.

Lion  Sands Treehouses include Chalkley Treehouse and Kingston Treehouse, which are located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, and the Tinyeleti Treehouse in the Kruger National Park. All of the Treehouses are securely constructed above the ground, where animals remain at a safe and comfortable distance. No electricity lends itself to the authentic ‘Night under the Stars‘, but all of the creature comforts are met (deluxe king-sized bed, flushing WC and running water).  Guests are dropped off at sunset with a gourmet basket for dinner, as well as a radio should they need to get in touch with their Guide at any point. They are collected the following morning, and can either enjoy a game drive, or return to the camp to freshen up.

We are excited to introduce our Thabametsi Treehouse at Marataba, the newest addition to the MORE Treehouse Circuit. Separate from the lodge, Thabametsi affords complete privacy, yet is close enough for efficient service. Its 6m-long Martini Step deck is the perfect place to enjoy an infinite view over the Marakele’s verdant expanse – perhaps with a chilled sundowner. Thabametsi is also our most impressive treehouse yet – solar powered and built on two levels, with a bedroom, full shower room facilities, and dining and lounge areas.

Very important: The Treehouses are booked as an experience in conjunction with accommodation. Guests will pack an overnight bag with their essentials, while leaving other belongings back in the room at camp. The Treehouse is charged per night, as a fee over and above the rate for accommodation.

We have included a little more information on each of the Treehouses below.

  • CHALKLEY TREEHOUSE, named after Guy Aubrey Chalkley, was once set up as a camp in a majestic centuries-old Leadwood Tree to escape the predators roaming the plains below. The 40m2 deck sleeps two comfortably and is suitable for couples. Unfortunately no children allowed. There are no shower facilities at the moment. It is 4.5km/ 2.7mi from the main Lodge and is seasonal all year round.
  • THE KINGSTON TREEHOUSE is constructed entirely from wood and glass, with contemporary décor in understated hues of greys, white, black and purple. Kingston is equipped with full bathroom and shower facilities. The 60m2 deck sleeps four and is children friendly. It is 1.6km/ 1mi from the main Lodge and is seasonal all year round.
  • THE TINYELETI TREEHOUSE, which aptly translates to ‘Many Stars’, is a breathtaking treehouse just off the rushing banks of the Sabie River. The 50m2 deck can accommodate four people, and children are welcome. There are no shower facilities. It is 2km/ 1.3mi from the main Lodge and is seasonal all year round.
  • THABAMETSI TREEHOUSE, offers breathtaking views onto the Waterberg Mountains and plains of the Marakele. Thabametsi can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children (superking bed and 2 single pull-out beds).
