Lion-Sands-Chalkley-Treehouse

Treehouses

Romantics, adventurers and solitude seekers alike can discover the magic of a night out in Africa – but with a little added luxury – in our million-star accommodations:

  • Chalkley Treehouse (Lion Sands Game Reserve, Sabi Sand side)
  • Kingston Treehouse (Lion Sands Game Reserve, Sabi Sand side)
  • Tinyeleti Treehouse (Lion Sands Game Reserve, Kruger Park side)
  • Thabametsi Treehouse (Marataba South Africa)

Arrive at sunset to a gourmet picnic dinner, spend the dusk hours watching animals wander past (at a safe distance), and fall asleep counting shooting stars. You can rest assured that a field guide will remain on call via radio, should you feel you need assistance, until after sunrise and a good cup of coffee.

A Treehouse Experience is booked in conjunction with lodge accommodation. Guests pack an overnight bag with their essentials, leaving other belongings back in their room at the lodge. The experience is charged for at a per person sharing per night rate, over and above the lodge accommodation rate.

Chalkley Treehouse (Lion Sands Sabi Sand)
Our original treehouse for two is built on the site where our ancestor, Guy Aubrey Chalkley made camp in a centuries-old leadwood tree, out of paw’s reach of predators. Light only by the soft glow of lanterns and the absence of Wi-Fi create an au-naturel bush experience. But with a few added creature comforts (deluxe king-sized bed, flushing WC, single vanity), you will by no means be roughing it.

Kingston Treehouse (Lion Sands Sabi Sand)
Built just beyond an outcrop of boulders, Kingston offers a private vantage over untamed and untainted Africa for a couple or family of four (including two children, between 10 and 14 years). No electricity makes for an authentic night under the stars – but a deluxe king-sized bed, twin pull-out beds, full shower room facilities, and Africology body products ensure you are hosted in complete luxury.

Tinyeleti Treehouse (Lion Sands Kruger Park)
Our riverside treehouse, Tinyeleti (meaning ‘many stars’) offers big views of both the bush and the heavens for a couple or family of four (including two children, under 15 years). But you need not forgo comfort for an out-of-this-world experience – the treehouse includes a deluxe king-sized bed, twin pull-out beds, flushing WC and double vanity, and is illuminated by lanterns.

Thabametsi Treehouse (Marataba South Africa)
Our most impressive hideout yet! Thabametsi is solar powered and built on two levels – with a main bedroom (including a deluxe king-sized bed and twin pull-out beds), full shower room facilities, lounge area, and decks facing onto the Waterberg Mountains and verdant expanse of the Marakele. This is the ideal into-Africa location for a family of four (including two children, between six and 15 years).
