Thabametsi Treehouse
Built over two levels with lounge, dining space, and viewing deck, Thabametsi Treehouse overlooks the Marakele plains with the Waterberg rising behind. Sleep with nothing but stars overhead and mountains silhouetted below.
How It Works
Book Thabametsi alongside your lodge stay at an additional cost. Your lodge room stays ready whenever you want to return. An evening game drive delivers you to the hideaway, where your field guide shows you how everything works - radio communication, safety basics, and where to find things. Gourmet picnic and drinks are waiting. Once you're comfortable, your field guide heads back but stays on call throughout the night, returning at sunrise with fresh coffee.
Watching Wildlife From Above
Animals move freely across plains below, unaware of your elevated presence. Antelope graze, predators patrol, birds pass at eye level. As darkness settles over the Waterberg, bush sounds intensify - chirps, distant calls, rustling vegetation. You're witness to nocturnal wildlife continuing their routines whilst you rest safely above, experiencing the privilege of observing without disturbing nature's rhythm throughout the night.
The Night Sky
Mountain elevation and complete darkness reveal stars invisible elsewhere. The Milky Way arcs sharp overhead, Southern Hemisphere constellations brilliant against blackness, meteors streaking without warning. We provide a stargazing app for identifying planets and satellites crossing the void. Fall asleep beneath infinite galaxies with the Waterberg dark below, experiencing true wilderness night far from any artificial light.

We booked the tree house for our last night and the entire team went out of their way to ensure that we had a perfect experience in every way. We have been traveling the world for decades and sleeping in the tree house was possibly one of the most special, surprising and grand experiences we have had in our lives. I highly recommend it.
