Lion Sands Game Reserve
Life enriching safaris in Sabi Sand and Kruger National Park
For four generations, our family has stood as guardians over a piece of Africa's untouched beauty, keeping the spirit of community and conservation alive.
Lion Sands Sabi Sand forms part of Sabi Sand Nature Reserve – the oldest private nature reserve in South Africa, established in 1948, with our grandfather as one of the founders. Lion Sands Kruger National Park is one of only seven private park concessions and protects pristine wilderness, as well as sites of cultural and historical significance. We have 12 400ha (30 600ac) of exclusive traversing ensuring a personalised safari experience.
Explore our four luxury lodges that blend seamlessly in the environment with 6.5miles (10.5km) of exclusive river frontage on the perennial Sabie River attracting a diversity of wildlife. Welcome to our beautiful world, where the most amazing family of people will take care of your every need.
LIFE ENRICHING EXPERIENCES
Relish the sights and sounds of the bush as you head out in open safari vehicles at sunrise and again in the late afternoon, capitalising on the best viewing times. Led by FGASA-accredited field guides, you can hope to see the Big Five and more on our private reserve with exclusive traversing rights and non-migratory wildlife for all year round viewing. Lion Sands is renowned for leopards, African wild dogs, and incredible lion pride activity.
Learn MoreDiscover the Southern African bush through the eyes of our experienced FGASA-accredited field guides and highly skilled trackers. Their deep knowledge will enrich each drive, walk and sighting. We're proud to mentor our MORE Field Guide College students, bringing high-calibre guides into the safari community.
Walk on the wild side alongside our expert field guides. Spend one to two hours exploring the natural world - feel the grass underfoot, touch weathered bark, and learn how to spot tracks. This is a wonderful opportunity to seek out the Little Five – ant lion, red billed buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise, and rhino beetle.
Our treehouses are the ultimate bush bedrooms. Here romantics, adventurers, and solitude seekers alike can discover the magic of a night out in Africa – in complete luxury. Chalkley Treehouse, the original adventure, has panoramic views of the open plains. Tinyeleti Treehouse offers a starry riverside retreat, and Kingston Treehouse is the ultimate luxury escape with a view over the treetops. The Treehouses are booked as an optional extra during your stay.
Between safari adventures, indulge in restorative spa therapies with views of the natural world, and even passing wildlife. Our nurturing massages, wraps and facials, superbly delivered by our expert therapists, use all-natural TheraNaka™ products to soothe your body and mind. We embrace wellness and our fitness centres are designed to ensure you remain inspired to stay fit in a calm and nurturing environment. So, if you need to burn off some energy, we have all the basic equipment to keep your routine on track.
Dining on safari translates to special locations – bush, boma, and under the stars to name a few; and when it comes to the food – we focus on fresh, sustainable, and ethically sourced. We accommodate all dietary needs - Vegan, Vegetarian, Reducetarian, Halaal, and more – just let us know in advance. There are also Kosher catering options at Ivory Lodge and River Lodge.
Sustainability is close to our hearts and across all our properties we track our progress across nine key pillars, always seeking out ways we could be treading more lightly. Our sustainability journey is delivered through More Community Foundation.
When you Pack for a Purpose, you are giving others the experience of hope. The space you save in your luggage to bring with you a donation of much-needed supplies for our community school projects goes a long way towards helping us secure a better future for the children. We support Henna Pre-school and Jabez Pre-school - for a list of needs, click here.
